Our Club is a Branch of the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) which is the largest dive club in the world with over 1,000 Branches worldwide and 50,000 members. We offer training under the BSAC banner following a structured programme which progresses divers from absolute beginner to qualified diver through a series of steps at a pace driven by you.
We meet 3 Fridays a month at The Underwater Studio (a 6m deep training facility) in Basildon.
Every 4th Friday we have a social evening at The Q-Ball Sports Bar & Snooker Club. (Membership of the Branch brings with it complimentary membership to the Snooker Club). We also on occasion use these ‘dry’nights to train and maintain basic life support skills where necessary.
We have a busy dive calendar with regular UK hard boat trips, dive weekenders to The Farne Islands, Lyme Regis, Scapa Flow and more. We also slot in regular open water training days at facilities such as Stoney Cove & Buckland. We also annually venture abroad to Malta and the Red Sea.
We also have an active social calendar with BBQ’s, drinks and Christmas outings.
Our Instructors are all Branch Members who are nationally qualified instructors who all have undergone the thorough BSAC Instructor Training programme ending in both theory and in-water practical exams. None of our instructors are paid – they are volunteers who give their time freely for the fun and satisfaction of helping you get qualified.
Basildon Sub Aqua Club Membership:
£10 pcm payable by monthly Direct Debit. This includes pool use, full training, membership to the Q Ball Bar in Basildon. A one off Joining fee of £20 is required to cover all admin costs in setting up your membership.
BSAC Membership:
£59pa payable annually by Direct Debit to BSAC each year. (£10 discount received in your first year when joining and paying by Direct debit). This includes third party liability insurances & a monthly magazine. To see the full BSAC membership benefits please refer to:

Kit Hire:
If required, full SCUBA kit can be hired for a period of 6 months from the club (after this time we hope you would have sourced your own kit). The hire fee is £18.34pcm for 6 months. Payable by monthly Direct Debit. This can be extended as and when needed and if we can still spare the kit.
To hire kit, we require 2 forms of ID showing your address (eg: driving licence and utility bill) for security purposes.
Diving Qualifications and certification cards:
In order to qualify for your first 2 Certificates (Ocean Diver – dive to 20m and Sports Diver – dive to 35m) alongside the in-water training, there will also be some theory. The total cost for these qualifications are £80. (This includes all the necessary manuals, training/study materials and pre-paid qualification cards for both grades). These will never expire and there is no set time limit on when you need to qualify by. The pace of your training is totally set by you! So there are no pressures.
